In a generation full of enthusiastic up-and-coming musicians, it can sometimes be overwhelming to sift through new music and find something that stands out. For those with a hearty appetite for cool beats, this process can be even more daunting. While I am usually one of those unfortunate people that suffer from music overload and chronic “o-beats-ity,” I was lucky enough to be tuned into East Village Radio’s “Main Ingredient” show one night to find out about a dope, beat-laced, orchestral jam from a mysterious beatmaker based in Germany. Enter IAMNOBODI.
If you’re curious about what track I’m talking about, it’s IAMNOBODI’s remix of Sly5thAve and The Clubcasa Chamber Orchestra’s instrumental cover of Kendrick Lamar’s, “Bitch Don’t Kill My Vibe.” The original track itself is pretty sweet and reminiscent of other orchestra-inspired Hip-Hop covers (think El Michels Affair’s Enter the 37th Chamber, or Carlos Niño & Miguel Atwood Ferguson’s Suite for Ma Dukes.) Check that original cover out first.
But, for a solid Hip-Hop instrumental, you can’t go wrong with IAMNOBODI’s refix.
And while you’re at it, you might as well check out some IAMNOBODI’s other Soundcloud offerings. I’m currently vibing to his “Yanantin” mix, which includes selections from from Miguel-Atwood Ferguson, Austin Peralta, and Robert Glasper, among others. Look forward to an upcoming collabo with San Diego beatsmith, Esta as well. See? While digging for new sounds may be a tiresome task, the rewards are almost always fruitful.
