What were you doing 12, 13 years ago? Back then, Madlib was making music. Those days, the enigmatic Oxnard-native was busy releasing an experimental Hip-Hop classic known as The Unseen. Through this album, Madlib slowly but surely introduced the Hip-Hop world to his animated alter ago, Quasimoto, with another full-length album following in 2005. Yet, little did any of us know that during that 12-year time frame, Madlib was also cooking up some tracks for his latest effort, Yessir, Whatever, which dropped yesterday.
Yessir, Whatever is only Quas’s third full-length album but it’s one of many additions to Madlib’s vast discography. Fans had the opportunity to stream the full album last week on Pitchfork Advance, but in case you missed your chance, cop it here. It contains rarities as well as previously unreleased tracks. If that doesn’t get you, the LP includes a bonus 7” single, and both the LP & CD come with a peel-off cover sticker revealing the anatomy of Lord Quas. Yessir.
