West Coast, Best Coast, Westside Wednesday – whatever you want to call it, this past Wednesday night was dedicated to the golden left side of this here United States and we thinks that Adidas did our fair state right. With a bill of modern hip hop’s choice west-siders, open bar, and a choice crowd, Adidas and Cashmere Agency threw one for the books.
A healthy mix of industry heads, friends, and family made up the crowd, with a few sprinklings of celebrity here and there. Among those spotted were Joyce Wrice, Riff Raff, Crooked I and Casey Veggies just to name a few, which aided in the social media driven atmosphere in the warehouse. A photo booth and dope LA cityscape projections were perfect photo ops for guests, and a #respectthewest tag on an Instagram post won you a sick Westside foam hand.
But the real appeal to the party was the ill west coast-driven lineup from LA’s finest – from Kittens’ opening set to DJ Mustard warming up the crowd for Skeme, Ty Dolla Sign, Nipsey Hussle, and YG.
Each rapper brought their energy and gusto to the stage, with DJ Mustard on the periodic assist – considering he produced half of the acts’ hit songs, it only made sense – but the outward theme throughout the night was just how dope California and the entire left coast remains. From top to bottom, paying tributes to the greats Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre, E-4o, the late greats Tupac and Nate Dogg and many more, everyone out at Respect the West was there for just that – to pay homage to that golden state of Killa Cali.
