Last week Sonos Studio played host to a Q&A session with the ever dapper crooner Mayer Hawthorne. The discussion was centralized around all things vinyl records, with the still very active crate digger and artist formerly known as DJ Haircut waxing poetic on a subject that he holds quite near and dear to him. Such an affinity for wax is evident in his special one-off releases of vinyl for songs like “Green Eyed Love”, “Henny & Gingerale”, and “Just Ain’t Gonna Work Out”. He also revealed that an important factor in him signing to major label Republic Records was whether or not he would still have the opportunity to put out unique vinyl-only releases. Thankfully for all audiophiles and wax heads alike, he was still granted the resources to do so. Following the Q&A, Mayer hopped on the turntables to treat the crowd to an all 45 records set that showcased his varying range in musical taste, as he wove a set that seamlessly had the crowd bopping to The Clash as much as it had them singing along to some Bob Marley.
