When I was 13 years old, I was out there dipped in a Nautica sailing jacket, Tommy Hilfiger jeans, and an upside down Fila visor. Why? Been AZN. Instead of doing something remotely productive, all I had to show for myself was an awful orange haircut and regrets looking back on my choice of headwear at the time. On the opposite side of the spectrum, I’d like to introduce you to 13 year old prodigy of the 1’s and 2’s, DJ Dwells. This past weekend, Dwells showed out in front of a seasoned collective of fellow turntablists, all battling it out for the DMC NYC regional title. In the end, the young fella stood victorious, impressing such vets as Lord Finesse and DJ Q-Bert, which by all accounts is a whole lot more impressive than growing bangs past my cheekbones and stapling the bottoms of your jeans to cuff them. In light of the extraordinary victory, DJ Dwells decided to share some footage of him getting down on the turntables for a quick battle set. Peep game above.
