Forget a shot, DJ Craze’s latest visual offering of his New Slaves routine is firing guided patriot missiles toward any and all individuals who try to play the part of being a real DJ through the tired act of pre-recorded sets, mindless button-pressing (or worse, pretending to press them) and silly antics to incite hand claps and audience pops. With “DJ” being an overused label these days by those who simply get their hands on CDJs and a MIDI interface, it’s no wonder that the once respected reputation of being one has been tarnished at a rate as alarming as the big money these counterfeits are pulling in. Thankfully, the art form’s pioneering heads and OG figures are on the offensive. Besides Craze, fellow legendary turntablists, like A-Trak, have been taking aim at said bogus DJs, using social media as their pulpit to deliver their message and bring back to the light what #RealDJing is. So for all those needing a quick lesson on what it takes to actually anoint one’s self as a DJ, peep game at what Craze served up in this clip.
