Kanye West Performs First Track From New Album

Kanye West has recently been on some minimalist creative journey and I really don’t know if we should be giving him daps for making us endure his artistic frustrations along the way. As fans we’ve seen him climb to the top and have praised him for conquering each new platform. We believe in his vision, his music, his style and cling to every word whenever he gets on the mic. Recently we’ve been questioning his ideas, beliefs and his evident lack of self control. But I digress, as we’ll let Kanye’s recent performance from Saturday Night Live’s 40th Anniversary show speak for itself. Hit the jump to watch.

We finally got to hear some new music and caught a glimpse of what the new album would sound like. Laying down on the floor, Kanye started with a classic track Jesus Walks. The lights and mood resemble his recent fashion show, dark and minimal. He continued with one of his newer songs, Only One, a collaboration with Paul McCartney. Finally he starts to perform Wolves, the first track off his new album. Joining him on stage is Chicago rapper Vic Mensa and Sia in her Grammy/Kabuki/Dr.Seuss looking wig. The sound is reminiscent of My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy and will undoubtedly feature some autotune vocals. Expect to see a Rihanna collab in there as well as a guest spot from one of the Carters. Listen/watch Wolves above and tell us what you think of Kanye’s new track.
