Jam On It: Bishop Nehru – “The Nehruvian EP”

1412700792_bishopnehru_74 A little less flashy that his other Generation-Y rap counterparts — think, Vic Mensa, Chance the Rapper, Rae Sremmerd and, dare I include him, Jaden Smith (just to name a few) — Bishop Nehru has left bread crumbs scattered of shy, yet mercurially enticing rap for us to find the last few months. January saw the release of “Breath (Prana/Spirit),” then “Harmony in Glass” and “Bishy in Japan (Knowing Nothing)” predicated his presence as one of New York rap’s promising MCs following his collaborative, “NehruvianDOOM” EP with the illusive Metal Fingers. That’s a tough resume to follow, yet the 18-year-old continues to hit the right notes with his latest EP, “The Nehruvian EP,” which is a generational hybrid that owes itself to a modernized homage to the familiar boom-bap days of east coast rap. Hit the jump to stream the full EP and catch the visuals for his latest single, “Users.”
