So, Satan called and he wants his weather back and we will gladly hand it over. This SoCal heat has not only taken a toll on the amount of black I can wear at one time, but also my sanity. The heat index is somewhere between OMG and WTF. I’m over it. I want sweater weather. I’m at the point where if it doesn’t start to cool off I’m just gonna run around naked and blame it on bath salts or something. Summer is “officially” over. I mean c’mon, Starbucks is already serving Pumpkin Spice Lattes, every white girl knows that’s truly the first day of Fall. I guess this heat didn’t get the memo. I would love to officially end my long-term relationship with Summer and move on to my side chick Fall. That’s why I’m here, to give you guys some of the top trends for Fall in hopes that one day she will show her face.
Coats on Coats on Coats
Hottest (literally) layering trend of this fall is wearing coats on top of coats. Now, instead of melting in this end of summer heat, you can bake in your onion layered coats and jackets. I laugh as I write about this trend as I am currently sitting in front of a fan eating a popsicle.
Cream Of The Crop
We all know it doesn’t rain enough to flood in Southern California often, but this trend wants you to be prepared. Having your pant hemline an inch above your ankle is where you want to be with this trend. Any higher an you are entering #awkardshants territory and this isn’t Europe and you don’t play futbol (FIFA doesn’t count).
The skinny jean is no more. Since the New Boyz era, skinny jeans have taken the reigns on style of pant. This Fall, loosen up, don’t be a jerk and try some straight-leg or even flared pants. Give the family jewels a breather. They deserve it, it’s been a hot summer remember.
Outerwear has the biggest voice of the season. These should be obvious closet staple pieces – animal, Eastern and 1970s inspired. Go for it and pair your coats and jackets with matching pants and make an effortless statement. Your outermost layer won’t just be warm, it’ll be loud.
Apparently the Canadian tuxedo is back and I’m not hating it. Match different denim washes for a modern take on the look. I’m getting Brittney Spears and Justin Timberlake at the VMA’s vibes and I love it. This trend includes overalls too.
Not Before Coffee
Hate getting out of bed in the morning? No prob, just take your sheets with you For this Fall trend. Capes and ponchos are classic and eclectic silhouettes that are now being modernized as another alternative to outerwear. Just make sure you fix that bed head before you leave the house though.
50 Shades of Beige
Yes, a color can be a trend. Yeah, I said it. The most boring color, beige, is all the rage. Camel to khaki to tan, all shades of beige are in.
Gender neutrality is among one of the buzziest topics in todays pop culture. It’s no surprise that fashion is following. You see this trend in TV shows to modeling campaigns. Androgyny is alive and well in the world and this season’s trends. So don’t be afraid to raid the opposite sex’s closet.
It’s Not Flair
From buttons to patches to pins – anything to make your outerwear match your personality. Outerwear flair is everywhere and a cool DIY project to have one of a kind items.
What’s Old Is New
I bet you wish you never threw away your old FUBU tee or your FILA track suit because what’s old is new again. Vintage sportswear has been a staple in streetwear, but is extremely prevalent this season. Time to google all the best vintage stores or call your little brother and beg for your goods back, because you’re gonna need it this season. This trend should be a lesson to all of us to never throw or give anything away and that hoarding can be a good thing.
Well, those are the top ten Fall 2015 trends all of you need to know. So, let’s give a giant middle finger to Summer and move on from this heat. I can’t wait to start bitching about how cold it is.
