You made up your mind and committed to waking up at an ungodly hour just to be one of the first to be at the H&M x Balmain opening on Thursday 11/5. Good for you. Does your boss know you might not make it in to work at 8? Wait, how are you paying for this? We won’t judge, promise. As your social media feed starts to become Balmain everything during this countdown, we thought it would be necessary to give you the heads up on what pieces are worth copping. You’ve read our review on the women’s line and while the ladies certainly have the advantage in this collection, the men’s line has some notable mentions. Click below and see which items that even Yeezy would give his stamp of approval to.
Whether you are choosing to shop from the comfort of your designer bed sheets or braving the long lines, make sure you add some flock-print T-shirts to your cart. At $34.99 each, this is a good intro into the Balmain collab without really breaking the bank.
Next up, the Wool-blend Pea Coat ($199) and Double Breasted Wool Jacket ($149), classic menswear pieces that are timeless and can work with (almost) everything you already have. Hate the gold buttons? At these low prices you can afford to change them later. But look, Kanye might tell you to keep the gold:
If the bright Ferrari-red jackets don’t match the rest of your Toyota-gray wardrobe, try these olive green military inspired jackets instead. (Double-breasted Coat, $299. Button-Up with Shoulder Tabs, $69.99)
Random Accessory Pieces You Don’t Need But Will Probably Buy Anyways:
- Ribbed Wool Hat, $17.99
- Suede Belt, $59.99
- Wallet in Grained Leather, $34.99
- Leather Backpack, $299
- Suede Boots, $199
At a retail price of $99, this Leather-trimmed Hooded Jacket is one of the only pieces in the collection without any gold embellishments, thank goodness.
The chevron, a dope pattern for your home floor tiles…not so much on your sweater. This Jacquard-knit Cotton Sweater ($59.99) is one of those items that IF you had time in the store, you might try it on, put it back on the rack, pick it up later, but then hate it when you get home. But nothing says “Balmain” than this black and white chevron pattern that has been seen in the SS15 collection and other seasons. If you really want to add that Parisian cool factor, pick this sweater up before someone else does. And if Kanye can rock it, so can you…maybe.
