Peep This: brandUn DeShay – Had ‘Em All

The premiere of branUn DeShay’s “goldUn Child” album had me and the writers wanting more information about the upcoming rapper. When it was first released a few weeks ago it was blowing up my social media feed. I was thinking, “Am I the last to know about this dude?” Truth be told I probably was. In L.A. there is an abundance of noteworthy talent popping up everyday and sometimes the really good ones slip through your Instagram radar. Nowadays a strong social media presence can make or break the youngins on the come up. Ok, but I digress. This music video for “Had ‘Em All” is speaking to the late 90’s version of me. I can list all the anime and video game references but y’all won’t catch my nerd side that easily. Take it for what it is. DeShay wants his listeners to the know the real dude behind the mic. It’s honest. It’s fun. And it’s definitely different from the rest.

“I grew up admiring guys like Pharrell, Lupe, Cudi, Kanye… dudes who weren’t afraid to be themselves and more importantly, speak for the unspoken for. I think in my generation, everybody is so obsessed with being “cool” and no one is brave enough to come out and say, “HEY. Fuck it. I’m a nerd. I love anime. I love video games. AND I’ll still fuck your bitch and make her watch anime with me.” So, I wanna be that voice for all those people out there that don’t give a fuck about being cool and rather just be themselves. This video is just one step of me achieving that dream.”  –  brandUn DeShay
