4 Days of Hip-Hop at The Music Center

World-renowned venue The Music Center is set to host a four-day hip-hop dance and music experience this week in Downtown Los Angeles. Gather your family and friends together for some truly unique hip-hop events. We’ll break down each day below so you can start making plans now.

 

 

Thursday June 16, 6PM
AIN’T NO HALF STEPPIN’: DANCE FROM SOUL TRAIN TO B-BOYS

A hip-hop panel featuring original Soul Train dancers Damita Jo Freeman and Thelma Davis. Rennie Harris (Puremovement Company Director) and Lil’ Cesar (b-boy and founder of the Hip-Hop School of Arts) round up the featured dancers on the panel. Check-in at Olive Court (between Grand Ave and Hill St), seating is first come first served and the event is FREE.

 

 

Friday June 17 -19, Various Times

Friday June 17, 11:30PM – 3AM
SLEEPLESS: THE MUSIC CENTER AFTER HOURS/HIP-HOP SPECIAL EDITION

A Friday night that is uniquely L.A. Enjoy sounds by DJ Babu, DJ Inka One and DJ Jedi. Improv performances, dance crew battles, roller skating, live graffiti painting, and various installations will all take place at the iconic Walt Disney Concert Hall.

Tickets go on sale June 17 at 10AM.

Sunday June 19, 12 – 6PM
BEAT SWAP MEET

The final day takes place at the massive Grand Park location and will be an afternoon dedicated to families and music enthusiasts. Among the various vinyl booths, there will be breakdance competitions, turntable repairs, turntablism Q&A, craft area, live art, and live performances. This event is FREE and guaranteed to be one of the best outdoor events this summer.
