“Keep it in the family that you came with. Keep enemies close you know the basics.”
Syd, the lead singer of alternative R&B group The Internet had previously teased the web with plans of branching out on a solo career. Earlier today, we not only got to hear her highly anticipated track but she went in and dropped an accompanying visual. To dispel any rumors that might surround her choice to go solo, the track is filled with lyrics that give thanks to friends and family that have helped her achieve success. The band will continue to tour together and you can expect the solo project singles from Syd and her band mates to be played at these shows.
Take care of the family that you came with
We made it this far and it’s amazing
People drowning all around me
So I keep my squad around me
I knew she was going to put out something dope…but this track was so good I was playing it on repeat while stuck on the notorious L.A. traffic jam. Angelenos, nod your head if you feel me. And tomorrow I might have it on repeat again. And this weekend I’ll definitely have it on a playlist.
Check out Syd’s smooth and beat-heavy track “All About Me” below, produced by Syd and her band mate Steve Lacy. Be sure to keep it locked on The 5th as we get more information on her upcoming debut solo album titled Fin.
