Mayer Hawthorne and Jake One’s collaboration project Tuxedo is uniquely West Coast, from their G-Funk inspired jams to their Hollywood and Sunset Boulevard vibes circa the 1970’s. But make no mistake, their sound is a disco trip that’s recognized from LA to Miami. 4 years ago they released a few tracks and we were basically obsessed at how each beat took us back to the golden days of the Sunday “Do Over” parties. Their EP Fux With The Tux came a little later but it was no surprise as both artists have their own solo projects. Housed under the Stones Throw Records label, the duo is set to release their full album this Friday March 24th. To get us prepared for what is expected to be one hell of a party album, Tuxedo dropped this DJ mix that instantly transports you back to a time when the dance floor was filled with poppers, lockers, freestylers, bboys, house dancers, waackers, and soul groovers.
