Your Favorite Hip Hop Celebrities Hit the Met Gala Steps

The annual Met Gala fundraiser event descended upon the New York streets earlier tonight and your Instagram feed may have been bombarded with fancy dresses and rappers wearing suits. Held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, celebrities spent weeks getting ready for this big night. To us average Joe’s this may just be another black tie event, but to these celebrities- it’s a really big deal. Getting a ticket to this event must have been similar to an A-List “Hunger Games.” With each celebrity walking the carpet, there were probably five other well-known celebrities who just didn’t make the cut. But I digress, this year’s honored designer Rei Kawakubo deserves every applause and acknowledgment. Her avant-garde designs and iconic brand Comme des Garçons has been immensely coveted by everyone, from the high fashion elite to the streetwear kids. And with Pharrell Williams working as one of the hosts of the event, I expect the exhibition inside to be extremely out of left field. Below are some picks of hip hop celebrities we noticed walking the Met Gala carpet. Some of them may not be IN hip hop but definitely have a strong connection to the hip hop and rap culture.
