“She reminds of a West Side Story”
Maria! Maria! Why do music producers continue to rework iconic songs thinking they’ll improve it? Leave it alone bruh. Although sometimes the new version pays homage to the original that it becomes like an extended remix. That’s alright. But then often times we’re left wanting to hear the OG version so much more. L.A.’s hip-hop radio stations were playing DJ Khaled’s new joint “Wild Thoughts” almost every hour on Friday and by the end of the day all I wanted to hear was that classic Santana jam. Rihanna’s sultry voice on Khaled’s track was nice and Bryson Tiller added his usual soul trap vibe. Overall the song was okay, but if Khaled had just produced his own original beat then the song might stay relevant throughout this Summer season. I’m putting both visuals back to back below so y’all can watch, listen and judge for yourselves. Notice the Havana night party theme on both of the videos. Khaled just had to take another one from Santana.

DJ Khaled’s “Wild Thoughts” VS Santana’s “Maria Maria”

I said the same thing just listening to it. To much copy and not enough originality.
