The daily live show will air from MTV’s iconic Times Square studio.
It’s been a long time since we’ve seen Total Request Live, or “TRL,” play our favorite music videos on the MTV cable channel. The countdown and voting show paved the way for many artists during a time when social media was barely in its infant stages. In this upcoming reboot, the show will be hosted by D.C. Young Fly and the TRL squad which includes Tamara Dhia, Amy Pham, Erik Zachary, Lawrence Jackson and content creators such as Liza Koshy and The Dolan Twins. Ed Sheeran and Migos are set to be the first guests during the premiere episode this coming Monday 10/2.
The following day, Noah Cyrus, Playboi Carti and PRETTYMUCH will take the stage. You can expect the show to “integrate linear, social and digital elements and bring teen passion points to life, while continuing to incorporate audience requests.” Additionally, video clips from the show will be posted to social media in real time, supplemented by original digital segments, short-form social videos and blog posts. But wait, there’s more, an official TRL show will be streamed on Musical.ly, airing on Mondays and Thursdays. Safe to say this isn’t your big brother/sister’s TRL show. All we want to know is if Carson Daly will make a cameo, the Polaroids make a return, or how the stans will vote for their favorite singer.
