With foot traffic that matched up to any major metropolitan airport, “Balvin Airlines” was right at home at ComplexCon 2017. J Balvin and Buchanan’s Whisky created a visual display mirroring an airport terminal with check-in displays and a conveyer belt loaded with MCM bags. Merch was available for sale throughout the convention which included collections from emerging latin designers.
The “Balvin Airlines Presented by Buchanan’s Whisky” pop-up shop curated special releases for ComplexCon including an exclusive MCM passport holder hand painted by Serviced by E, a collaboration toy with artist Ron English, a debut of Kappa’s exclusive Colmillo capsule with styles handpicked by J Balvin, a collaboration hoody made for Colette with designer Esteban Cortazar and lastly a collaboration jacket with RCNSTRCT Studios.
Pharrell and Puerto Rican trap artist Bad Bunny stopped by the installation to show support to Balvin this past weekend. Balvin was apart of the host committee for this year’s convention and had a surprise performance during fashion designer and DJ, Virgil Abloh’s afternoon show.
