Jazz musician Robert Glasper has been a long-time collaborator of hip-hop and neo-soul acts in an effort to bridge together and generate a new energy within jazz itself. He’s been linked to a number of the hip-hop’s biggest names, including sharing liner notes most recently on Kendrick Lamar’s “To Pimp a Butterfly” and almost as far back as Q-Tip’s “Renaissance” and Kanye West’s “Late Registration.” Glasper’s more minimal, acoustic outfit, “The Robert Glasper Trio” is set to release a new project, aptly called, “Covered,” in which they record their renditions of select Kendrick, John Legend, the Roots, and including this recent released version of Jhene Aiko’s “The Worst.” Hit the jump for the full video and watch for the project to drop on June 16.
